What do Clinical Medical Assistants do?

Clinical duties performed by Medical Assistants vary according to State law and may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination.

CCMCC’s Medical Assistants are trained to collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments. Medical Assisting training also includes how to instruct patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood and give injections, prepare patients for X-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures and change dressings.

Day Program meets Mon-Thurs from 9:00am-1:00pm for 10 weeks*

Mid-day Program meets from Mon-Thu 1:30pm-5:30pm for 10 weeks*

Evening Program meets Mon-Thu from 6:00pm-10:00pm for 10 weeks*

There is a 160 hour externship following successful completion of the didactic portion of the course.

When Medical Administrative Assistant/Billing & Coding Specialist and Clinical Medical Assisting are taken in conjunction, there will be only one registration fee AND only one 160-hour externship will be required. Tuition for the second of the two courses taken will also be reduced.
