Prior to starting the surgical tech program at CCMCC, I spent a few years working in an admin position at a hospital. Early on I knew that the hospital environment was the right fit for me, and I wanted to continue pursuing a career in the medical field. Even though I have an outgoing personality, I shockingly found myself nervous at the start of the surgical tech program. However, within weeks of starting at CCMCC, I began to gain confidence and I knew that I had made the right decision in deciding to become a surgical tech and choosing CCMCC. I remind myself daily that working in the operating room is one of the most humbling jobs out there, because even the most experienced techs can make mistakes and have more they can learn. I’ll never forget the fundamental skills CCMCC taught me, which gave me a solid foundation and will allow me to continue to grow in the years to come.
